The Fatal Flaw

Saturday, March 10th, 2007

Well, Essjay has stepped down; Jimbo has apparently ordered him to do so. It’s a pity, as he really was an extraordinarily prolific editor… although that was a rather large deception he perpetrated.

Hmm… a tragic hero with a fatal flaw… what do you do with such a person? Why, write a Greek epic tragedy about him, of course! Look out for “The Essjaiad”: coming soon to a blog post near you.

And Essjay has resigned,
For Jimbo changed his mind…

One last thing: so we shouldn’t viciously attack people when they do wrong. That doesn’t just apply to hard-working Wikipedia editors… *coughcomputergeeksattackingBillGatescough* and *coughpeoplerunningdownParisHiltoncough*. That doesn’t mean that you have to accept what they’re doing (especially in Bill’s case ;-) )… just, please, remember to treat people with agape.

Sing A New Song…

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

Remember, remember, the 11th of November,
Those who for our country once fought,
At the end of their wits, but they held back the Blitz:
Make sure they are never forgot.

REMEMBER.

“Wipe the tears away, wipe the tears from your eyes… the real battle yet begun to claim the victory Jesus won… how long to sing this song?” - U2.

“I’ve walked down roads where the devil’s been, where the kids are seeing things that we never have seen… and the ancient stone knows a deeper tale about a bloody King who won the Holy war… Heaven is my home, and there’ll be no shame to bear… Heaven is my home, and there’ll be no refugees…” - Delirious?.

Imagine No Imagine

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

No apologies to John Lennon, but nothing to kill or die for sounds rather boring.

I mean, at the heart of any story is conflict, whether internal or external. I’m not advocating war or bloodshed, I’m just quoting Lennon’s own postmodernist view, as spoken by George S. Patton:

“If everybody is thinking alike, then somebody isn’t thinking.”

Would Lennon defend his cause strongly enough to die for it knowingly?

Does George S. Patton want everyone to think the same as he does?

Is there no end to postmodernists’ self-contradiction?

I think I feel a parody coming on…

Next post expected, ooh, let’s say tomorrow.
